The Metro Mall

My day began with yet another day of sleeping in – which was much needed.  Then it was mall time!  I wanted to check out the Taco Bell that everyone raved about the other day, and I wanted to pick up a few things before leaving for Crete on Monday.  It was only a short walk and a metro ride away and very worth it.  I actually ate some Taco Bell – it made me feel closer to America, haha.  Then it was a bit of shopping.  I picked up some shorts and a spring scarf from H&M.   After some shopping, I headed back for some relaxation, food, and a night of fun.  We headed back to Sprit for some dancing.  Again, a great night.  Tomorrow is going to be beautiful weather and filled with schoolwork.  We leave for Crete Monday night so I am looking forward to that like whoa.  Can’t wait!!!

Local Burgers – so good

So after sleeping in so much, which felt amazing, we finally returned back to reality.  I got ready for the day and then went to school to do some work.  I found some resources for the one of MANY papers we have to write this month.  Then it was dinnertime.  I have wanted to try a burger place that is right down the street from us for a while so tonight was the night.  It was amazing – good portions, great people, good 90s music.  After dinner we relaxed a bit before a group of us hit the town.  We were hoping to go to a Jazz club but it was a bit packed when we got there so we put that on our list of things to do next weekend and went to the good ol’ Sprit club in Psiri.  It was a great time and a good night with great company.

House and Puppy Sitting

So today was guaranteed to be a good day because I was puppy sitting.  It only got better when after getting the puppy and taking him for a walk we found out that class was canceled.  So we had a free day with a puppy.  His name is Voukie and he is my Byzantine professor’s puppy.  He is adorable but he did destroy my purse so there was a moment that I wasn’t a huge fan – but his cute face made me get over it.  The day was great – making dinner and milkshakes, watching a puppy, interneting, watching movies.  Here are some photos of Voukie and the day:

Corinth, Greece

Today was another day trip in the middle of the week.  I really like these day trips in the middle of the week because it doesn’t take away from our weekends and we get to miss class for the day and go somewhere cool.  Today was Ancient Corinth and Acrocorinth.  We have passed over the Corinth Canal several times by now so it was nice to actually be going to the city which pops up in a ton of our readings and such.  We had a later meeting time of 9 which was nice and were scheduled to be back before 6 so I was excited.  We arrived first in Ancient Corinth which was beautiful.  Since the Romans took it over a ton was preserved which always make it more interesting.  Our professors actually worked on the site when they were younger so that also made it more interesting.  Here are some pictures from Ancient Corinth:

Now you may notice the huge hill in the distance from Ancient Corinth – that is Acrocorinth, the acropolis of Corinth.  We were told that we were going to be hiking that.  Actually, the bus took us pretty far up and we had very minimal walking to do but the view was absolutely beautiful!

Afterwards, our professors told us that in honor of their daughters birthday that they were missing they wanted to take us all out for drinks at a cafĂ© that over looked Ancient Corinth.  It was an extremely kind gesture that we all enjoyed very much.

Once we got home, we relaxed for a bit before beginning our second Lord of the Rings night – The Two Towers.  I was not the biggest fan but it was still a good night all in all.  Tomorrow is puppy sitting!!! I can’t wait!

A, Basically, Personal Day

Today was a fun, personal day with having only one class.  I woke up and went for a workout.  I haven’t been working out as much as I would like but I am doing my best.  I will pick up my game when I am back in the states for sure though.  But after that, I got ready to go to class.  We only had Sanctuaries and she moved it from 11 to 12 so that was nice.  After class a bunch of people went to Taco Bell, but I wasn’t feeling the best so I hung back and cleaned a bit.  It was nice.  The rest of the day was spent relaxing and enjoying the slowness of the day.  I watched What Happens In Vegas before going to bed which always makes me happy.  “This is my lesbian sister – tell her about your softball game.”  But it made me miss the girls…sad.  Tomorrow is a day trip to Corinth which should be fun because that means no class!!!  Then house and puppy sitting on Thursday for our one professor.  Fun times ahead!

Modern Greek – Complete

Today began being very tired, but it was back to reality after an amazing weekend – the reality was our Modern Greek Final.  We had our stupid City-States class first though.  BUT before that I got the news about Boyfriend – so I was sad and went on a walk and bought new pens.  The day was basically a blur of studying and then taking the final, which, may I say, was ridiculous.  Seven pages of Greek.  I wanted to cry.  By the time it was over I was exhausted.  Afterward I made an amazing dinner, watched What Happens in Vegas (thanks Mom!), and turned in early.  I plan to have a very productive day tomorrow there being only one class from 12-1 so hopefully that happens!

Rolling with the Punches

I might stop reading my emails one day because it is rarely good news.  Rescued from the State College Walmart on September 15, 2009, Boyfriend was the best fish I could have asked for.

His home flourished:

I am sad to not be returning home to him.
