Dreaming of Wawa Hoagies... Mmmm...

So after a fun filled night, I did not get out of bed until late on Saturday.  And since I spent mostly all of my money Friday, I did not do much on Saturday.  I laid around most of the day with everybody.  We discussed the meals we want when we go home to America.  I decided on a Wawa hoagie – Italian, toasted, with all of the toppings… I want it very badly.  In the evening I went to Ciao Italia with Tyler for a date and had some great pizza and salad.  Then I fell into a food coma – it was awesome.  Also – my last Saturday here in Athens…weird.

Fun Filled Day!

Today was an extremely productive day.  After being back to 100% I started the day with a nice run, got ready and went shopping.  I picked up a cute pair of earrings before meeting our Byzantine teacher for the Islamic museum.  It was really cool.  Here are some photos:

Then I shopped like crazy.  I bought ALL of the souvenirs that I planned on getting for people and got some things for myself finally.  It was great.  After shopping I ate lunch, took a nap, and watched a movie before our night’s adventure.  Our Byzantine teacher wanted to take us to a Scottish pub so he agreed to come to the apartments to pregame.  There are no ping pong balls in this country so we improvised with a bottle cap and duct tape.  It was a lot of fun and then we went out!  The bar was great and I tried some Scottish beer.  It was a good night.

Acropolis Day

Today was Acropolis Day since we were there for Festivals and Archeology!  I woke up ran, ate breakfast, went to the Centre for some internetting then off to the Acropolis!  We did Tripod Street and the Theater with Mary Lou.

Then we did the Parthenon/Acropolis in general with Steve.  It was such a clear day because it had rained in the morning so the pictures from the Acropolis were amazing.

On the way back I stopped at the store and discovered something amazing – tomato soup.  It is impossible to find soup in this country but this little grocery store was the key.  So I picked up supplies for grilled cheese and tomato soup for after Byzantine.  It was amazing although I miss American cheese everyday I am here.  After dinner I watched “It’s Kind of a Funny Story” which turned out to be a very good coming-of-age movie.  Then I passed out :-)

Eleusis, Greece

Today we had one of our final two field trips to Eleusis.  It was a great site and we had some performances to watch our City-states class as well as a guest speaker.  She was really interesting and knew the site so well.

When we got back a bunch of people partook in the final installment of the Lord of the Rings drinking game but I was still feeling a bit under the weather so I opted to sleep.  It was a good decision.

FAB Tuesday

I believe that today was the peak of my sickness and of course it was the busiest day ever.  The day began with the Acropolis for our Festivals class.  It was cool because we gained special privilege to go onto the porch of the Erecthion.

Then it was the Agora (again) with Steve for our Archeology class.  It was good but I just did not care to be there that much.  After that class a took a little tumble down some marble steps – still I think one of the stupidest ideas ever thought and executed.  Then it was back to the centre for Byzantine which I don’t even remember.  I went back to the apartment afterwards and was dead all night.   I don’t remember falling asleep or doing anything.  I hope tomorrow is the start of the road to recovery!

Dancing Spartans!

Today I woke up still feeling pretty sick and weak.  Being sick sucks but being sick in Greece sucks a little bit more.  I had to meet up with the Spartans to practice our dance.  It was a beautiful day so that helped me get through everything.  We did our dance and it was a hit!  The rest of the day was a bit of a blur because I slept basically the whole night.  Tomorrow is a super long day with 3 classes all day so I need the energy!

Sick Sunday

Remember when I said I was hoping that I would feel better?  Well I was wrong.  I felt so much worse today.  So I just laid in bed and did absolutely nothing.  We had to figure out our Spartan performance so I did get up to take care of that.  It was fun and quick so I was happy.  Not to embarrassed to perform it tomorrow in class.  I am just happy it will be over finally!
